1) The cable is a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 2 cable, it cannot work with mini DP devices and Thunderbolt 3 devices.
2) iMac that can be used as target Display Mode displays: iMac with thunderbolt port (Mid 2011-Mid 2014).
3) iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) and later iMac models can not be used as Target Display Mode displays.
